The visit coincided with the announcement that Nobu Hospitality is partnering with Viet Capital Real Estate (VCRE) to build a network of hotels, restaurants, and Grade A office buildings under the Nobu brand in Ho Chi Minh City and Danang.
Nobu Ho Chi Minh City is set to be Nobu’s 40th global restaurant and hotel complex, while Nobu Danang will be the first Nobu Residences project in Southeast Asia. The highlight of the visit was a panel discussion between Henry Nguyen, chairman of Phoenix Holdings, and the renowned Nobu founders.
According to legendary chef Nobu Matsuhisa, the combination of Japanese and Peruvian flavours creates an unforgettable culinary experience at their highly regarded restaurants.
"Learning to use spices and combining traditional Japanese cuisine with Peruvian ingredients means putting a new cultural spin on classic dishes. In Nobu's recipes, it's easy to see the presence of a deep love for Peru beyond the ingredients and cooking techniques," said Matsuhisa.
In 2017, the Peruvian government honoured the chef with the title 'Amigo del Perú' in recognition of his efforts to promote Peruvian cuisine globally – a country that now serves as his second home.
For Robert De Niro, the business is an extremely dynamic field, as compelling as the cinematic achievements of their career.
"Nobu's success is a testament to the enduring value of knowledge, personality, and real-life experiences of its founders. More than business partners, they are true friends who have shared this great dream for over 30 years," said De Niro.
The first Nobu restaurant opened in Tribeca in 1994, marking the beginning of collaboration between Matsuhisa, De Niro and Hollywood producer Meir Teper, best known for cult classics like 'From Dust to Dawn' and 'What's Eating Gilbert Grape'.
Today, Nobu is a chain of 77 restaurants, 41 hotels, 12 luxury real estate projects, and a global lifestyle icon with a passionate fan base and a portfolio spanning five continents.
Henry Nguyen, chairman of Phoenix Holdings, a group that manages VCRE, stated that in addition to the mission as a boutique developer, VCRE has always been committed to developing premium properties that transcend Vietnam’s borders while building iconic destinations in the most developed regions and cities.
“The approach we choose involves unique designs that carry more meaning than mere aesthetic appeal. It’s refined luxury that meets practical needs, making every experience worthwhile, with the best solutions across all segments,” said Nguyen.
Vo Thanh Lam, CEO of VCRE, confirms that real estate is not only an investment, but also a makes the lives better.
"We are not only developers, but also managers and craftsmen, creating vibrant and inspiring spaces for the next generation of Vietnamese people. We chose to work with Nobu because the core values inspired by the brand's story are not outwardly focused, but are continually affirmed by the depth of feeling of our elite customer base,” Lam said
Trevor Horwell, CEO of Nobu Hospitality, said that Nobu aims to create meaningful and lasting connections with customers based on sincerity.
“These elite residents are not just seeking material wealth but are also pursuing enriching life experiences that completely align with their values,” Horwell said.
