The event aimed to spread the message, "No one should fight cancer alone,” and connect the community in the fight against cancer, whilst energising cancer patients and their loved ones on their healthcare journey.

5,000 Happy Steps provided an opportunity for people to share and spread love and hope. The event served as a bridge to connect more than 1,500 cancer patients, relatives, and the community to bring positive spirits to overcome difficulties together.

The main theme of the event was "Happy K". Cancer is dubbed K among Vietnamese people, like thyroid K, lung K, breast K, etc. Once it comes to the letter K, patients and society often think of a monstrous disease that takes a toll on the health of individuals. To change that mindset, the Salt Cancer Initiative aims to provide a more optimistic perspective, encouraging the community to embrace other Happy K's, such as memories (Ky uc), connections (Ket noi), expectations (Ky vong), desires (Khat khao), and health (Khoe manh), which are associated with meaningful images. With the theme "Happy K", the Salt Cancer Initiative wants to convey the message that happiness is a process that we go through together, not a destination.

With the support of Nestlé Health Science, the Salt Cancer Initiative also organised a nutrition workshop led by Le Thi Huong, former director of the Institute for Preventive Medicine and Public Health at Hanoi Medical University. At the workshop, Huong shared useful knowledge about nutrition, exercise, and comprehensive healthcare for cancer patients. "Nutrition plays an important role in the cancer treatment process because nutrition supports the treatment and helps improve the quality of life for patients. Proper nutrition helps patients become stronger during the treatment process and enjoy happy moments in life," she said.

Zubin Trikha, country business manager at Nestlé Health Science, Vietnam, shared, “We are truly honoured to support the ‘5,000 Steps of Happiness’ event. At Nestlé Health Science, we are deeply committed to empower healthier lives through nutrition. It is more than just a 5K run, it is a celebration of life, hope, and strength that comes from community support. Our endeavour is to give this message to cancer patients that you are not alone in this journey. With the right nutritional support and community involvement, we can help cancer patients not only survive but thrive.”
