MPI- Minister Nguyen Chi Dung hosts a reception for outgoing United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative Caitlin Wiesen on August 30.

Minister Nguyen Chi Dung congratulated Wiesen on fulfilling mission during her tenure in Vietnam and expressed deep thanks to her contributions to Vietnam on its socio-economic development, especially in the 2 years of COVID-19.

According to the minister, UNDP and Wiesen personally actively promoted the partnership between UNDP - Vietnam and UNDP - Ministry of Planning and Investment, and helped Vietnam improve its role and position in the international arena.

The Vietnamese leader also spoke highly of UNDP’s assistance for Vietnam in offering policy advice, resources; supporting the implementation of sustainable development goals (SDGs), poverty reduction goals; cooperation in new fields such as green economy, digital transformation and innovation.

Minister Dung affirmed the MPI is willing to tighten its relations with the UNDP to implement shared projects and wished Wiesen success in her new positions, continuing to assist Vietnam and strengthening the two sides’ friendship.

For her part, Wiesen expressed her joy at the fruitful cooperation between Vietnam and the UNDP. The UNDP and MPI has implement numerous projects on green growth, millennium development goals and SDGs; develop report on climate change expenditure and investment review; launch the “COVID-19 Adaptation Programme” for Social Impacted Businesses (SIBs) and implement innovative activities for businesses.

Wiesen promised to make more practical contributions to the cooperation relations between Vietnam and the UNDP, in which focus on key areas to help Vietnam promote private economic sector’s development and projects related to Green Climate Fund; respond to climate change; strengthen resilience to natural disasters and ensure environmental sustainability./.

On this occasion, Minister Dung presented the “Achievement Award for the career of Vietnam’s Planning and Investment” to Wiesen for her contributions in the process of building and developing Vietnam's Planning and Investment sector.
