Japan’s Lixil starts new factory
The plant, capitalised at $441 million, covers 55 hectares and is expected to employ 2,000 workers after it goes into operation in November 2013. The Lixil’s project was licenced by Dong Nai Provincial Industrial Zones Management Authority (DIZA) in April 2012.
Lixil’s plant would produce aluminum and plastic products including sashes, doors and exterior for residential and commercial buildings. This will become the fifth plant of Lixil in Vietnam. The four remaining plants are located in southern Binh Duong and Ba Ria-Vung Tau provinces, Hanoi and central Quang Nam province and have about 3,000 employees. Lixil at present has the largest share in the Vietnamese sanitary ware market, holding two brands of American Standard and INAX, according to Lixil.
“In collaboration with Tostem Thai Co., Ltd. [Lixil’s plant in Thailand] which already manufactures and supplies such products, Lixil aims to produce a stable supply of aluminum products for ASEAN bloc as well as Japan,” Lixil announced.
