Vu Trong Tai, general manager of Reed Tradex Vietnam, the organiser of VME 2019, expressed his belief in Vietnam's potential: "Vietnam is considered a potential market in the ASEAN industrial scene. Together with invest trends in production, the government's supportive policies, and advantages in human resources have convinced many multinational corporations to build factories in Vietnam's industrial zones to increase production capacity to meet the growing market demand both domestically and internationally.”

As the co-organiser, Hironobu Kitagawa, chief representative of JETRO Hanoi, shared, “The exhibitions were organised to support the supporting industries in Vietnam and increase local procurement, as well as the purchasing ratio of parts and components for Japanese companies operating in Vietnam.”

These two exhibitions bring over 200 leading brands, from 20 leading countries of technology including Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, Thailand, and the USA.

Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Daisuke Okabe sees the growing community of Japanese companies in Vietnam an opportunity to grow sustainably. “This exhibition has created opportunities for businesses to meet and exchange business information with each other. Of the 1,800 enterprises that are members of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) in Vietnam, up to half are operating in the field of supporting industries. Therefore, Vietnam's small- and medium-sized enterprises, especially manufacturers and suppliers in the supporting industry, play a key role, helping Japanese businesses to ensure business activities in Vietnam,” he said.

At the opening ceremony, Do Thang Hai, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, said, “Industrial enterprises increased both in quantity and quality, improved production capacity, and participate more and more in global value chains.

At the beginning of this year, during the mid-term review meeting of the Vietnam-Japan Joint Initiative (phase VII), Vietnam and Japan agreed to deploy three activities to strongly support the development of the supporting industries in Vietnam, including investment in jigs, molds, human resources training, business management, external trade, and market promotion to increase business sales and reduce production costs.”

In the context of strengthening advantages in global competition, VME 2019 and SIE 2019 will focus on Vietnamese enterprises, especially small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Tai from Reed Tradex also shared, “The exhibition creates a unique platform to connect technology and solutions providers, as well as suppliers with industrial manufacturers so that all parties can explore possibilities of co-operation and establish a business network. The exhibitions will support businesses, especially SMEs in Vietnam, to increase competitiveness in the manufacturing and supporting industry.”

In Vietnam and ASEAN countries, SMEs play an important role in the economy. This year, to support SMEs, it is the pleasure of VME 2019 to enter into a strategic partnership with the LinkSMEs project by USAID. The project is being implemented in 2018-2023 with a total budget of $22.1 billion. In detail, the project is expected to catalyse systemic changes in business relations and significantly increase the quantity and quality of linkages between Vietnamese enterprises and global value chains.

Together with the participation of 200 brands from more than 20 countries, hundreds of machines and technological solutions, as well as many on-site activities during all show days, VME 2019 and SIE 2019 will update both exhibitors and visitor on industrial machines and solutions as well as offer comprehensive opportunities to connect with suppliers, vendors, distributors, and potential partners.
