According to the city Department of Transport, the ban is to ensure order and safety during the holiday.
Vehicles going from Le Thanh Ton to Ton Duc Thang have been told to take Dong Khoi Street or Nam Ky Khoi Nghia and Ham Nghi streets.
In the reverse direction, they can take Hàm Nghi and Pasteur streets or Cong Truong, Me Linh and Hai Ba Trưng streets.
The department has also called for a suspension of all road works during Reunification Day and Labour Day on May 1.
Units in charge have been told to speed up the works and relay the roads before April 29.
