This partnership will enable VNPT to implement cases used by global telecom operators, while integrating local applications and devices to enhance service quality and user experience.
Ericsson and VNPT will also work together in defining new cases based on new network components from VNPT, on top of existing API/network functions and connect to global platforms for collaborative opportunities with the aim to open up 5G networks to applications developers. This will make it easy for developers to consume API services, fostering innovation and expanding market opportunities.
Rita Mokbel, head of Ericsson Vietnam said, “The emergence of programmable networks and the exposure of network capabilities to application developers presents an exciting opportunity for growth for VNPT. VNPT will have an opportunity to transform the network into a platform for innovation by making advanced 5G network capabilities available to the global developer community through open network application programming interfaces (APIs).”
According to VNPT, network APIs are the way to easily access, use, and pay for network capabilities. The collaboration with Ericsson to build network APIs will enable the developer community in Vietnam to access VNPT’s network through open API and develop new, innovative use cases for 5G.
Ericsson and VNPT have been long-term partners across generations of mobility. As part of the transition to the cutting-edge 5G era, Ericsson successfully conducted a 5G trial with VNPT in 2020, showcasing its commitment to advancing connectivity in Vietnam.
“We look forward to working with VNPT to deliver the full benefits of 5G to customers in Vietnam, as well as develop the innovation ecosystem in the country,” Mokbel added.
