Danang dances in the fireworks limelight

Taking place from May 31 to July 12, the Danang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF 2025) will be the longest fireworks season in 15 years, with six nights of performances.

The major event is being organised by Danang People’s Committee, with the support of Sun Group.

For the first time, there are 10 participating teams from Vietnam (two teams), Finland, England, Portugal, Poland, South Korea, Italy, Canada, and China. The opening night was held on May 31, theme on cultural essence.

The following nights take place every Saturday night, with the exception of a week off before the final. Themes include creative arts (June 7), sustainable development (June 21), and leading technology (June 28).

This year’s event brings remarkable performances with the largest stage being built on Tran Hung Dao street, some 60 per cent larger than that of last year. This year’s event stage also integrates many advanced performance technologies, such as five lifting domes and LED floors to help viewers experience optimal visual angles from all positions. Surround sound serves both fireworks and art performances.

Sun Group’s head of Marketing Cao Ngan Ha said, “This year’s DIFF will not only have impressive fireworks displays but also bring visitors experiences combining art, music, sports, and technological innovation.”

Outstanding art

Each night will be a vibrant live concert with the participation of renowned domestic and international artists and music idols, combining fireworks, music, and modern technology.

This year, the organisers have introduced the Sun Paradise Land application, with which visitors can personalise their Danang travel schedule, buy tickets to watch fireworks, access major entertainment centres, and vote for the winning team of each performance night to receive gifts.

In particular, AR technology is being integrated into the application for the first time, allowing visitors everywhere to immerse themselves in the Danang fireworks sky with unique effects.

Chairman of the Danang Tourism Association Ho Thanh Tu said, “The association and our member associations are planning to increase tours and stimulus routes to attract visitors during the event season and the summer in general, while also building more service packages, sightseeing, and entertainment services combined with a series of events in the summer to enhance the experience of visitors to Danang.”

Vice chairman and general director of Sun Group Central Region, Huynh Nam Thang, said that after 12 years, DIFF has truly become a festival with its own brand.

“DIFF has contributed to bringing the name of Danang further and further into the international arena and becoming an attractive tourist destination of regional and world stature every summer,” he stated.

With the theme ‘Danang - New Era’, DIFF 2025 promises to be not only the longest and biggest fireworks season in DIFF history with the most performance nights and participating teams ever, but also aims to bring ultimate, emotional experiences to the audience thanks to breakthrough tech innovations combined with impressive art, music, and sports performances.

In addition to preparing the event, Sun Group is planning a series of accompanying events and new, unique tourism products to enhance the visitor experience, while contributing to the improvement of Danang tourism’s competitiveness.

Truong Thi Hong Hanh, director of Danang Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, said the city is preparing many new products and unique activities for local people and visitors at locations such as Danang Museum and Hai Van Quan relic site, along with a series of special festivals to celebrate 50 years of the city’s liberation.

“In addition, the city continuously has cultural, sports, and tourism events throughout the year to bring a vibrant festival atmosphere and valuable experiences to visitors,” Hanh said. “To attract visitors during the DIFF 2025 season, the city’s tourism industry has increased domestic and international communication activities through travel agencies and international press agencies, as well as social networks, especially on popular websites of key markets.”

Building a unique brand

The DIFF has become a large playground, attracting the participation of many renowned fireworks teams from around the world. Nadia Shakira Wong, director of Fireworks Organisation Consulting Company, said that every fireworks season, the organising committee and the teams make great efforts to bring the audience brilliant performances.

“The positive effects of the event have created a strong boost for commercial and service business activities, as well as created more jobs and income for individuals and businesses,” she said. “After many successful events, DIFF deserves to be an international fireworks festival that many fireworks teams in the world want to come to, in order to try their hand.”

Le Trung Chinh, Chairman of Danang People’s Committee, declared that the DIFF contributes to raising the brand of Danang tourism and is the one of the leading events in all of Asia.

“Danang is not only attractive in terms of geographical location and natural scenery, but also aims for the perfection of policies, professionalism, creativity, and determination of the management team, intellectuals, and workers to maintain the warm and hospitable cultural identity of the city’s people,” Chinh said.

All of these factors help create an attractive investment environment, and a locality with a unique identity, he added, and those are the values that Danang has been building, preserving, and nurturing.

“The fireworks festival and many accompanying programmes bring visitors a complete experience of the beautiful city of Danang. In particular, Sun Group has accompanied and supported us throughout the festival organisation process, contributing to beautifying the land, making the city an increasingly vibrant and attractive destination. We will continue to build and develop Danang into a large, smart, creative, unique, and sustainable city,” Chinh said.

The DIFF 2025’s grandstand has a capacity of about 10,200 seats per night, with five seat classes. Ticket prices are between VND1-3.5 million ($40-140). On the final night, an extra seat class will be added and ticket prices will be higher, from VND1.3-4.5 million ($52-180).

Some 15 cruise ships operating Han River tours are allowed to sell tickets for those travelling on the river and watching the fireworks. The cruise ships run 5pm-9pm, including dinner, and ticket prices are between VND1.2-3.5 million ($48-140).
