Ba Na Hills has contributed to the rise of tourism in Danang |
Danang saw a new record in tourist volume. Notably, in the first quarter alone, there were 27 international flight routes and nine domestic flight routes to Danang, increasing by four international routes in three years. At the same time, the Thailand-Danang route reached 56 flights per week.
According to Huynh Thi Huong Lan, deputy director of the Danang Tourism Promotion Centre, Thailand overcame Japan to rank as the third largest international market of tourists visiting Danang.
In general, in the first quarter of this year, total tourist arrivals to Danang reached 1.8 million, up 16.4 per cent compared to the same period of last year, including 876,500 foreign tourists, up 31.2 on-year.
The increase in both tourism volume and staying duration a clear proof for the growth of the tourism sector. The average length of stay in Danang was 2.6 days for domestic tourists and 2.85 days for foreign tourists. Previously, according to a survey of the Danang Institute for Socio-Economic Development, the average length of stay for tourists in Danang was only two days.
Nguyen Ngoc Ly, CEO of Palm Vietnam Travel, said, “10 years ago, Danang was a strange name even among Vietnamese people, but now almost all foreign tourists want to visit Danang to check-in at Ba Na Hills to visit Golden Bridge. Ba Na Hills played an important role in making Danang popular in tourists’ eyes as well as a top tourism destination.”
Huynh Thi Huong Lan from the Danang Institute for Socio-Economic Development, said, “The soar in Thai visitors to Danang is thanks to the attraction of Golden Bridge in Ba Na Hills. There are numerous 5 days-4 nights tours built to visit this bridge and stay at Mercure Danang French Village Bana Hills one night, and then at 3-4 start hotels in Danang for the remaining nights.
According to Tran Thi Minh Duc, head of Inbound Vietrantour, every single domestic and Asian tourist who book Vietrantour’s tours to Danang wants to visit Ba Na Hills to admire the Golden Bridge.
“Not so long ago, Danang was not a famous travel destination, however, since Ba Na Hills came into operation, Danang became the tourism capital of Central Vietnam. Even, most recently, an English billionaire changed his travel plans just to visit the Golden Bridge at Danang,” said Duc.
“Previously, tours visiting Danang usually lasted for three days and two nights, however, tourists now more readily opt for 4 days – 3 nights tours to spend a day discovering Ba Na Hills. Customers’ adding one day at Ba Na Hills contributed to improving the revenue for Danang’s tourism sector,” Duc said.
It is clear that Danang’s achievements and growth come from its otherworldly beauty, however, the main part comes from the effort of private enterprises, including Sun Group, in changing the appearance of tourism of the city.
The Golden Bridge has become an almost compulsory check-in destination for young people |
