“Nhin Lai” Exhibition occurs at Ana Mandara Villas Dalat Resort and Spa

The exhibition presents more than 30 oil paintings in various sizes. The largest painting is 170x400cm, the smallest is 35x30cm, and the remaining medium paintings are 55x73cm, 40x50cm with the main theme of the compositions being portraits of children from the highland region.

“I chose the name 'Nhin lai' or 'Looking back' as a way to remember my trips to northwest Vietnam, including the moments, the conversations, and the children's faces I met in Ha Giang, where I have the most special memories.” said artist Bui Van Tuat.

Another topic of Bui Van Tuat’s work that also captures the public's love is his series of landscape paintings. They're called landscapes, but they're actually slices and excerpts of life - a corner of the kitchen with pots and pans hanging on a smoky wall, a kettle of water boiling on a firewood stove, or a small dog sleeping on the clay terrace.

Tuat’s ingenuity and sophistication makes viewers feel that they are not just looking at paintings, but contemplating life. From the paintings of these simple objects, people find out the story of their family, their village, or a beloved place they have not returned to for a long time.

One of the people who worked with artist Bui Van Tuat to organise the exhibition is Miss Vietnam Ngoc Han, who said, "This exhibition is the first with the theme of the people and landscapes of the northeastern province of Ha Giang to be organised in Dalat. We can easily see interesting commonalities in climate, people, and the idyllic landscapes between these two lands. Therefore, we decided to choose Le Lycée Artspace - Ana Mandara Villas Dalat Resort and Spa as the destination to organise the exhibition.”

“This is also a way for us, through the language of art and painting, to contribute to spreading the culture and beauty of the people among the regions and ethnic communities of Vietnam closer to each other," Han said.
