Art Trail #01 – Travel & Workshop occurs at Ana Mandara Villas Dalat |
On September 18, Annam Gallery and Ana Mandara Villas Dalat Resort & Spa kicked off their Art Trail #01 – Travel & Workshop with the mission to inspire young artists.
Organised by the Lan Tinh Foundation in collaboration with Annam Gallery and Ana Mandara Villas Dalat Resort & Spa, the event is a journey created by three young artists amid the nostalgic French colonial architecture of Dalat, in a place once designated as a retreat for French officials and soldiers during the colonial period.
Each artist has one week at Ana Mandara Villas Dalat, during which they can find inspiration in the resort’s space or go around the city to start their first drafts. Each artist will have a personal studio space to organise their work to utilise going on field trips and studio practice.
The theme of this creative camp is about nature, the landscapes of Dalat’s mountains and forests, the grounds of Ana Mandara, and especially the native flora.
In an ancient French cultural heritage village, nestled amid the myriad of flowers in the heart of Dalat city, Ana Mandara Villas Dalat Resort & Spa carries the distinctive beauty of exquisite, romantic, and emotional French countryside architecture from the early 20th century.
Hidden among lush pine forests and just a 10-minute drive from the city centre, the resort comprises 17 elegant and inspirational villas interspersed between lush, picturesque, tranquil grassy hills, far from the hustle and bustle of urban life. On the grounds of Ana Mandara Villas Dalat, each artist had one week to find inspiration and sketch out their initial creative ideas.
The public could freely explore the creative camp space during two open studio days on September 23-24. In particular, the audience had the opportunity to chat with the artists when registering for an art tour during the following time slots on these two days.

Miss Vietnam Dang Thi Ngoc Han, the representative of the event’s sponsor, said, “I was honoured to accompany these three young artists on this project. Arriving at this creative camp, I have time to delve deeper into each person's world-view and appreciate their talents even more.”
With various exciting activities under the guidance of these talented artists, each artist offered viewers vastly different visual experiences.
Pham Cong Xeen looked through the lens of abstraction and aims for an emotional connection with subjects.
Phan Thi Thanh Nha, who started as a botanist with a boundless passion for plants, collaborating with other botanists to illustrate plants with the precision of anatomy, brings a scientific researcher’s perspective.
Nguyen Ha My said that from the early years of studying art, she was always drawn to botanical illustration books. Botanical art drawings have provided a strong source of inspiration for her to pursue and develop her path in artistic creativity.
Together, the artists engaged in a highly fruitful workshop.
