With our exceptionally extensive and diverse portfolio of medicines, a one-of-a-kind global supply chain designed to reach more people when and where they need them, and the scientific expertise to address some of the world’s most enduring health challenges, access takes on deep meaning.
Supporting sustainable healthcare systems is fundamental at Viatris. Globally and here in Vietnam, we focus on access and innovation to continuously advance sustainable practices and market dynamics.
Viatris Vietnam has an extensive, diversified portfolio encompassing multiple therapeutic areas to address a wide spectrum of health conditions. This includes cardiovascular disease, where over 366,000 patients have benefited, pain management affecting 1.3 million patients, mental health management for 403,000 individuals, treatments for infectious diseases impacting 70,000 patients, and men’s health solutions reaching 47,000 patients annually.
We also make continued efforts to introduce localised products to the market through technology transfer of off-patent originators.
Our unwavering belief is that better access leads to better health, including access to high-quality medicines made in Vietnam while balancing Viatris’ global, regional, and local supply.
The company has also carried out innovative drug production technology transfer projects in Vietnam since 2017. In March this year, we successfully transferred our first three originators to Vietnam and obtained their marketing authorisation.
Viatris has localised drugs in different stages of transfer and approval, aligned with the country’s plans to develop the local pharmaceutical industry, and we hope the company will gain further support from relevant ministries to make Vietnam the pharmaceutical manufacturing hub for the ASEAN region in the next 10-20 years.
Additionally, to raise disease awareness in the public, we partner with many medical associations and hospitals to support healthcare professionals with education programmes to optimise treatment protocols.
Since 2022, Viatris has partnered with the Vietnam National Heart Association (VNHA) and the Interventional Cardiology Association to develop the Score_VN application, a digital tool to support doctors in estimating and stratifying cardiovascular risks for Vietnamese people. As of last month, more than 221,000 visits by healthcare professionals nationwide have been recorded on the app.
More recently, in August we collaborated with the VNHA and the Vietnam Rheumatologic Association to host the Viatris Masterclass event, which was part of our education programme series for healthcare professionals from the Southeast Asia region.
The event offered a forum for capability building, exchanging ideas, and exploring topics related to advancing cardiovascular health and pain management intermingled with mental health issues to support optimal patient care.
We have also been collaborating with the Vietnam Medical Association and the Ho Chi Minh City Retail Pharmacy Association to conduct training programmes for more than 1,000 pharmacists from major pharmacy chains, as well as other independent pharmacies nationwide.
To enhance healthcare knowledge for people with cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, and men’s health diseases, we strive to spread awareness of health and wellbeing among the community, thereby reducing the healthcare burden on hospitals in Vietnam.
By combining our global expertise with local insights, we are committed to delivering high-quality, accessible, and sustainable healthcare solutions to every corner of the country.
We look forward to continuing our journey of growth and collaboration, working closely with the government, healthcare professionals, and communities to build a healthier future for Vietnam.
