This year has witnessed a surge in German investment in Vietnam. With over 530 German companies operating in the country, German businesses continue to trust Vietnam as a vital growth market, contributing a remarkable $3.6 billion in investments. These new investments span a range of industries, from manufacturing to high-tech solutions, logistics, and increasingly, renewable energy.
The continued growth in German investment reflects Vietnam’s appeal as an investment hub, with its strategic location, emerging workforce, and government initiatives to improve infrastructure. These investments are not just in traditional sectors but also focus on green energy and sustainable manufacturing, aligning perfectly with both Germany’s technological leadership and Vietnam’s long-term environmental goals.

While 2024 has been a year of tremendous progress, the GBA continues to recognise the challenges that must be overcome to ensure sustained growth. These challenges include navigating regulatory complexities, infrastructure bottlenecks, policy transparency, the non-issuing of licences, and others.
As Vietnam moves into 2025, the GBA will continue to prioritise sustainable investments, focusing on industries such as renewable energy, digital transformation, and high-tech manufacturing.
Alexander Ziehe, chairman of the GBA, shared his outlook for the future, sating "We are not just participants in Vietnam’s growth, but active partners in shaping its future. Our vision for 2025 is about accelerating our efforts in creating a sustainable, innovative, and resilient economy. The future is bright, and we are here to make a long-lasting impact."
The GBA was one of the first foreign business associations in Vietnam, starting here in 1995. For the past 30 years, it has been the focal point of German business life, culture, and values in Vietnam. It has helped German businesses in developing their operations, advised on a wide-ranging topic, and created opportunities for business and social exchange across the country.
The association is one of the largest foreign business groups in Vietnam and a highly respected counterpart in the local community. In addition, the GBA was one of the founding members of EuroCham Vietnam, a partnership that represents pan-European activities and interests in Vietnam.
