VinMart+ plans to launch 117 stores a day until the end of the year |
Vingroup plans to simultaneously open 117 convenience stores across the country on December 31, raising the total number of VinMart+ stores to 1,700.
The VinMart+ stores will be between 80 and 200 sq.m large and will be located in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Bac Ninh, Quang Ninh, Hai Duong, Haiphong, Hung Yen, Phu Tho, Thai Binh, Thanh Hoa, Bien Hoa, Binh Duong, Can Tho, Danang, Dong Nai, Nha Trang, and Vung Tau. There are 54 new stores in the northern region, and 63 in the south.
Particularly, in December, as many as 238 VinMart+ convenience stores and five VinMart supermarkets are launched, raising the total business area of these chains to over 400,000sq.m.
In 2018, VinCommerce General Commerce Services JSC, the owner of the VinMart and VinMart+ chains, has continued expanding the chains, often by acquiring other retail chains. In October, VinCommerce wrapped up the acquisition of the Fivimart chain from First Vietnam JSC (FIVI), including 23 stores. This is one of the retailers with decade-long experience in Vietnam that holds several good locations in the middle of crowded trade hubs. After the acquisition, the Fivimart supermarket chain has been renamed to VinMart.
Thai Thi Thanh Hai, general director of VinCommerce, said that Vinmart and Vinmart+ stores will not only be located in Vinhomes urban areas and Vincom trade centres, but also expand to residential areas and serve most customers.
According to VinCommerce's development plan, the company targets to have 200 VinMart supermarkets and 4,000 VinMart+ convenience stores by 2020.
