2021 Saigon Urban Arts will bring a refreshing urban style to Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnamese provinces |
The project is organised by the French Institute in Ho Chi Minh City (IF HCMC) to honour street art.
Several outstanding activities will be held in November, including wall painting events, workshops, and art performances.
The project begins with the unprecedented Jam performance on April 24-25. During the event, 10 artists will create paintings on large panels directly in front of the public. Their works will then be hung on the wall of the French Consulate General and exhibited in many provinces and cities nationwide until December.
The theme of the contest is the UN's Sustainable Development Goals, including the elimination of poverty, zero hunger, good health and well-being, quality education, gender equality, clean water and sanitation, as well as affordable and clean energy.
On this occasion, IF HCMC also runs a young talent contest for Vietnamese artists from 18 years old. Three prospective painters will be chosen from the Jam performance.
Rewards for the winners are a 15-day art-in-residence trip to Lyon, France, as well as participation in the international street arts festival in Ho Chi Minh City in November.
