According to Forbes, Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao is Vietnam’s first self-made female billionaire took her budget airlines, Vietjet to public in February 2017. She launched the airline in 2011 and made a big splash early on with ads featuring bikini-clad flight attendants. Vietjet operates more than 40 per cent of the nation's flights, with more than 300 flights a day.
Thao also has investments in HDBank and real estate, including three beach resorts. In 2018, her holding company, Sovico, announced embarking on oil exploration with Taiwanese oil refiner CPC Corp.
In February 2019, during US President Donald Trump’s visit to Vietnam, Vietjet signed a $12.7 billion contract to buy 100 additional Boing planes from the US partner, upgrading its standing order.
Having achieved such remarkable achievements, people have become familiar with her image as a great businesswoman, however, Thao also sings and considers it as a gift for the poor and her close customers.
