Lunar New Year, is a time for joyous reunions, time-honoured traditions and journeys brimming with hope for the year ahead. It is also a time when Vietnamese travel back to their hometowns to reconnect with their loved ones or travel together to create lasting memories as they usher in the Lunar New Year together.

Where Vietnamese are heading to usher in the Year of the Dragon

According to Booking.com’s Travel Predictions 2024 research, travellers are seeking cooler destinations to escape the heat, with 82 per cent of Vietnamese travellers citing an interest in water-centric vacations this year.

This is reflected in the top 10 most searched for destinations by Vietnamese travellers for domestic travel, where six out of the 10 are beach destinations.

Besides beaches, bustling cities like Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi with street vendors selling numerous traditional Lunar New Year delicacies, the ancient city of Hoi An, adorned with thousands of lanterns or the mountainous terrain of Sapa with awe-inspiring rice terraces are also destinations for Vietnamese travellers this Lunar New Year.
