“This project will create a favourable environment for investors in Can Tho and the Mekong Delta key economic region in general, and positively contribute to the integration, comprehensive and sustainable development of Vietnam,” Truong said.
VSIP Can Tho will span 900 hectares. When completed, it will create jobs for 100,000 workers, attracting $3.5 billion in investment.
Phase 1 will cover 294ha of land and have investment of around $160 million. During this phase, the project will also supply support services for factories in nearby areas and Can Tho at large, along with those for labourers working at the industrial park.
The project is oriented to be built according to the smart and sustainable industrial park model with a large food processing and distribution centre and a logistics network and supporting infrastructure to support for investor supply chain needs.
The IP is located at the strategic intersection between the vertical and horizontal highways of the Mekong Delta, bordering three provinces of Dong Thap, An Giang, and Hau Giang, easily connecting to the port system, airport and utility services of the city centre.
As a centrally-run city, Can Tho has approved its socioeconomic development plan for the 2021-2030 period, with the vision of becoming a trade and service centre of the Mekong Delta region by 2030.
Also at the launching ceremony of VSIP Can Tho, the IP signed a MoU with 12 investors for land lease and business cooperation.
Adding VSIP Can Tho into its portfolio, VSIP is currently participating in the development of 17 industrial, urban and service parks across Vietnam. From the first VSIP in Binh Duong, VSIP's total land has increased to over 11,000ha.
