The houses were constructed on nearly 60 square metres of space with a solid base, replacing the old houses built from plywood. 98 primary students in the area will soon be able to move into the new establishment.

VND180 million ($7,826) was deducted from the latest Swing for the Kids charity golf tournament, and also The Bob&Renee Parsons Foundation fund owned by the US billionaire Bob Parsons. Since 2018, the fund has been sponsoring and accompanying the programme.

Speaking at the event, Nguyen Quoc Viet, deputy editor-in-chief of VIR asserted the newspaper’s commitment to backing disadvantaged children across the country who have been striving to better themselves and their circumstances through learning.

Launching in 2007, the annual Swing for the Kids tournament has offered dozens of scholarships to children, built and equipped computer-learning rooms in many schools, and offered maintenance and upgrading packages for training institutes across 40 cities and provinces.

This year’s golf tournament will officially take place on November 21 at BRG Kings Island Golf Resort, Son Tay district, Hanoi.

Also, on the occasion of donating the housing estate, 12-grade students of Hanoi Amsterdam High School contributed a VND90 million ($3,913) library to the children of the school.
