Bangkok - Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Pham Viet Hung on August 8 applauded the contributions of the community of Vietnamese women in Thailand to spreading Vietnamese cultural values at an event to announce the new executive board of the organisation of Vietnamese women in Thailand in the 2024-026 term in Nong Khai province.
The ambassador said that inheriting the good traditions of Vietnamese women, Vietnamese women in Thailand always play a key role in family and society, as well as in preserving Vietnamese cultural values and traditional customs.
They are an indispensable part and the nucleus for community activities, he said, adding that they are also a bridge that helps Thai people to better understand Vietnam.
The organisation of Vietnamese women in Thailand was established in 2021, with its Executive Committee being the heads of women's unions in localities across Thailand.
It has supported the Vietnamese association in Thailand, while proactively organising charity activities to help the disadvantaged in Vietnam and Thailand.
Earlier the same day, Ambassador Hung had a meeting with Nong Khai province’s Governor Somphob Samitasiri.
At the meeting, Hung thanked the provincial authorities for creating favourable conditions for the Vietnamese community to do business and live in the locality, which is one of the provinces with the largest number of overseas Vietnamese in Thailand.
Noting that Nong Khai's development plans have many similarities with those of Vietnamese localities, the Ambassador hoped that the provincial government will share information and strengthen cooperation with Vietnamese localities.
For his part, the Thai Governor affirmed that Nong Khai province wishes to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam, especially with its twinned localities and central provinces.
He told the guests about economic potential of the province, affirming its priorities for green economy and circular economy.
He also informed that the province is promoting road projects connecting it with Laos, which will help create a development corridor with Vietnam.
