The initiative reflects SCG’s 17-year commitment to reducing inequality in education by supporting children with disabilities, a core focus within the company’s Inclusive Green Growth strategy aimed at fostering equity and opportunity for all.
This year’s celebration brought joy and inspiration to 280 students through a vibrant festival and a dedicated capacity-building workshop for 100 hearing-impaired students. These activities underscored SCG’s long-standing mission to reduce educational inequality and empower children with disabilities to reach their full potential.
Since 2009, SCG has been a dedicated partner to the Ba Ria-Vung Tau School for Children with Disabilities, supporting both infrastructure improvements and student development. From upgrading classrooms and providing scholarships to organising skills training and meaningful annual events, SCG’s efforts have created a more inclusive and supportive learning environment for children with disabilities.
Over 17 years, this partnership has helped reduce inequality in education by enabling hundreds of students to access quality learning opportunities, gain confidence, and realise their potential, regardless of their physical or social limitations. It stands as a testament to the power of long-term commitment in creating equitable, community-driven impact. Building on the success in Ba Ria-Vung Tau , SCG aims to scale this model to other provinces across Vietnam, with the vision of making it one of the company’s core initiatives for inclusive and sustainable development.
“This year’s theme, "Dreams on a Nurturing Journeys" captures our aspiration to not only provide a day of joy, but also equip students with the knowledge, confidence, and inspiration to pursue their ambitions. Activities such as sports, science and technology exploration, green recycling, and career orientation reflect our belief in holistic, inclusive development. The success here motivates us to expand the programme to more provinces in the coming years,” said Praween Wirotpan, deputy country director of SCG in Vietnam.
As part of this year’s celebration, SCG and DRD organised a specialised capacity-building course for 100 hearing-impaired students, combining practical digital literacy training with an inspirational sharing session.
The “Online Safety” workshop provided students with essential knowledge to navigate the digital world safely, focusing on personal data protection, online scams, and handling inappropriate content. The session featured real-life scenarios performed by teachers, followed by guided discussions to help students identify risks and make safe choices. With the support of sign language interpreters and visual learning tools, the content was made accessible and engaging for all participants. During the event, many students expressed excitement and pride while taking part in creative activities and engaging with inspirational mentors.

Following this, the session featured Nguyen Minh Hao, technical manager at Doi Rat Dep (Life is beautiful), an IT expert and resilient role model. Sharing his journey from hardship to success, Hao inspired students to believe in their potential, pursue education, and overcome limitations. His story served as a powerful reminder of the strength within each individual, regardless of their challenges.
“The rise of social media has created more opportunities for students, including those with disabilities, to connect, communicate, and learn more easily. Assistive technologies have made it significantly easier for visually and hearing-impaired students to access lessons effectively. However, the internet also poses risks, especially for children with limited comprehension or digital experience, who may be more vulnerable to online threats and personal data breaches. That’s why it’s essential for teachers and parents to play an active role in guiding and supporting students in using the internet safely and responsibly," he shared.
Building on a long-standing partnership, this year’s event once again received warm support from both students and school staff. Over the past 17 years, SCG has provided not only practical assistance but also a great source of inspiration, helping the school sustain and grow its educational programmes for children with disabilities.
“We sincerely thank SCG for their 17 years of continued partnership with Ba Ria – Vung Tau School for Children with Disabilities. This year’s event not only offered a creative and meaningful space for our students but also empowered them to grow in confidence and integrate into the community. SCG’s unwavering support, both material and emotional, has been a tremendous source of encouragement, helping our teachers and students stay firmly on the path of education and compassion,” shared Nguyen Thi Thanh Truc, deputy principal of the school.
The 2025 International Children’s Day celebration at Ba Ria – Vung Tau School served as a joyful occasion and a powerful reminder of what long-term, inclusive partnerships can achieve. For SCG, this is more than a one-day event, it is part of an enduring commitment to support children with disabilities, promote educational equity, and nurture dreams for a brighter, more inclusive future.
