Hoi An is an attractive destination for domestic and foreign tourists |
According to Quang Nam’s approved planning strategy, there will be a focus on exploiting the natural and cultural space to make the central province a world-class tourism centre.
This will be carried out on the basis of maximising the value of the world cultural heritages of Hoi An, My Son temple area, and Cu Lao Cham biosphere reserve, as well as its marine resources, islands, rivers, mountains, and forests. Also in mind are the province’s many historical relics, while the beaches and coastal islands are deemed valuable for resort and marine tourism.
Another key focus is on developing various types of tourism connected to sightseeing, relaxation, entertainment, sports, business events, and healthcare.
Ho Quang Buu, Vice Chairman of Quang Nam People’s Committee, said that solutions in planning must be implemented synchronously to realise the goal of becoming a world-class tourism centre.
“Quang Nam will review, adjust, and promulgate preferential and most favourable policy mechanisms for site clearance and access to long-term preferential loans to entice investment in tourism development, especially modern tourism products with high technology and green content,” Buu said.
Quang Nam will increase its budget to support investment in developing tourism infrastructure, especially for connecting tourist areas and destinations and connecting the province with neighbouring localities. It will also look to fund more training and develop tourism human resources, while protecting the tourism environment.
The plan is also to promote socialisation of investment, based on perfecting incentive policies and creating an open environment for related activities and an influx of foreign funding.
“The province is currently developing tourism back to its source. This is a type of cultural tourism with profound humanistic meaning,” Buu explained. “Tourists participating not only have the opportunity to visit and be entertained, but also have the opportunity to experience and understand the history and traditional culture of the locality, and the nation in general.”
Buu added that the application of digital transformation in tourism is one of the major policies of Quang Nam.
“The industry needs to build and deploy a digital data platform on cultural heritages, landscapes, destinations, service facilities, and tourism markets so that users can enrich resources,” he said. “To effectively implement digital transformation in tourism, it requires a methodical, focused strategy, changing the way of management, operation, and governance of the industry.”
According to Le Tri Thanh, Chairman of Quang Nam People’s Committee, human resources are one of the important factors to raise the level of tourism. Therefore, vocational training centres will be consolidated and developed to approach ASEAN-4 standards.
“We are also coordinating with a number of large corporations to form a tourism vocational training centre in the near future, with international certification in the province but serving the entire Central region,” Thanh said.
