"The expo in Hollywood includes activities such as exhibitions on cinema and tourism in Vietnam, introducing natural potential as well as Vietnam's policies towards international cinema activities," Sieu said.

The organisers plan to invite 200 producers and directors to participate in the event to call for them to come to Vietnam to make films.

Nguyen Chau A, general director of Oxalis Adventure, revealed that filmmakers of "Kong," "Peter Pan," as well as other names in the film industry such as Netflix will be invited to the event.

“From the experience of Vietnam and many other countries, tourism promotion through cinema often brings excellent results, arousing tourists' desire to set foot in the beautiful destinations they see in films,” Chau A said.

The Expo in Hollywood is hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and is expected to have 15–20 booths, open to visitors.

The culinary association will introduce Vietnamese dishes, inviting Hollywood stars and locals to experience them for free. The cost of organising a one-day Expo event is nearly $417,0000, not including the cost of designing and installing the booths.

In the first three months of this year, Vietnam's tourism industry welcomed more than 4.6 million international visitors, an increase of 72 per cent over the same period in 2023, and an increase of 3.2 per cent over the same period in 2019, according VNAT.

The Vietnam International Travel Mart (VITM) 2024 themed “Vietnam Tourism – Green Transition for Sustainable Development” kicked off in Hanoi on April 11, attracting 700 enterprises across Vietnam and 16 foreign countries and territories.

The four-day event sees more than 450 booths and expects about 3,500 Vietnamese visitors and international enterprises.
