The Green Study Tour began with an international workshop on the future of urban planning in Ho Chi Minh City, held in District 1 on May 15. The workshop was run by the Urban Planning Training Programme from the Faculty of Urbanism and Tourism of the University of Quebec, in Montreal, Canada.
It was attended by a range of domestic universities and organisations such as the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Nguyen Tat Thanh University, GreenViet Ltd. and Phuc Khang Corporation.
During the workshop, the Canadian students visited examples of Phuc Khang Corporation's green buildings and listened to presentations about the sustainable development journey. The Canadian students also conducted interviews and surveys of young residents living in Ho Chi Minh City about the Thu Thiem area in Thu Duc city. The students will analyse the data and propose a future plan for a part of Thu Thiem urban area.
Speaking at the event, Phuc Khang Corporation CEO Luu Thi Thanh Mau said the company was honoured to accompany and facilitate the students in completing their research papers.
“I believe that student research is a valuable resource that can contribute to the development of Vietnam's urban areas and at the same time help Ho Chi Minh City become a greener, more beautiful, and more sustainably developed city,” Mau said.Alexandre Labelle, lecturer at the Faculty of Urbanism and Tourism, University of Quebec said that he was grateful to Phuc Khang Corporation for welcoming both the Canadian and Vietnamese students to implement this international workshop. “We are truly impressed with the sustainable development journey of Phuc Khang's green buildings and we hope to continue to benefit from your advice in the future,” Labelle said.

Phuc Khang CEO Mau also welcomed an international delegation including professors and more than 60 students from Hochschule Darmstadt University in Germany and the Vietnam-Germany University to visit and experience real life at the Diamond Lotus Riverside green building in Ho Chi Minh City.
After the presentation and overview of the project, the delegation was given practical experiences of the riverside park, utility space, and mock-up apartments.
The group then listened to a presentation about the different US and Vietnamese green building evaluation criteria systems applied to the project. Professors and students of the two universities paid special attention to the energy saving possibilities and diverse ecosystems at the riverside park of the Diamond Lotus Riverside project.
Prof. Henning Baurmann Herbert Max, lecturer at the Faculty of Architecture, Hochschule University, was very impressed with the design of the Diamond Lotus Riverside.
“It is great that you have a project with beautiful views of the riverbank and urban landscape of Ho Chi Minh City. More specifically, this project is built under green and sustainable development criteria, which are topics that we care about a lot in Germany. We can learn a lot from your experiences to teach our students about urban planning," said Professor Max.
