Among the most prominent initiatives, the Japanese firm is soon to reach the milestone of one million trees planted and donated across Vietnam by the end of the 2024 fiscal year. This accomplishment is the result of years of consistent efforts to plant trees through the special initiative 'Live Wellness, Contribute Green'. In addition to planting new trees, the company's members also gathered to support local communities, such as an environmental class for children, an organic waste treatment workshop for households, and used-battery collection.
For the young generation, Panasonic's 'Live Green and Wellness with Gen G' campaign has inspired millions of youngsters to practice a green, healthy lifestyle while empowering and sponsoring environmental initiatives proposed by young people.
In education, 'Panasonic for Sustainable Schools' was launched in 2022. The initiative built on the achievements of Panasonic Risupia Vietnam, which ran a free-entry Mathematics and Science Museum that welcomed nearly 900,000 students, teachers, and parents between 2010 and 2021. For over two years, the scheme benefitted over 60,000 students and nearly 120 schools and educational organisations, giving students the chance to learn and practice STEM through lectures and toolkits, while also raising awareness of environmental protection and global issues related to sustainable development.
Furthermore, significant effort has been spent to facilitate learning opportunities for future Vietnamese generations. Panasonic Scholarship Asia has sponsored more than 200 students nationwide with more than VND55 billion ($2.2 million) over the last 20 years. The company also donated nearly 3,000 solar lanterns to off-grid areas that provide local children with better conditions for studying at night.
