Khanh Hoa province has been moving full steam in recent months on its development orientation

According to an agreement made in February, representatives of Khanh Hoa People’s Committee and Dak Lak People’s Committee will strengthen cooperation in diversified sectors, such as agriculture, investment promotion, trade and service, and tourism.

Promoting such links with Dak Lak has been identified as a key task and the cooperation agreement is a landmark and solid premise to help the two localities maximise their potential, strengths, and specificity to promote growth in all aspects.

Speaking at the February conference, Nguyen Khac Dinh, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, assessed that the cooperation between the two provinces will promote motivation for mutual development.

“The two provinces need to develop a specific cooperation plan with high efficiency associated with the viewpoint of economic cooperation in collaboration with environmental protection, promoting traditional cultural values, and protecting national defence and security,” Dinh said.

Meanwhile, Khanh Hoa has promoted bilateral and multilateral tourism cooperation with many cities and provinces.

Khanh Hoa is a large consumption market for agricultural and aquatic products produced in the province and the localities in the south-central coast and the Central Highlands regions. It boasts many seafood processing factories for export with the advantage of raw materials collected from the locality and neighbouring provinces such as Ninh Thuan, Phu Yen, and Binh Dinh. Furthermore, it is also well known in durian, green grapefruit, and sugarcane production.

“The province is proactive in contacting, cooperating with, and supporting other surrounding localities to develop transport infrastructure to promote inter-regional links,” said Nguyen Tan Tuan, Chairman of Khanh Hoa People’s Committee.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Transport has approved the proposal to upgrade and expand National Highway No.26B to ensure a synchronous connection of Khanh Hoa-Buon Ma Thuot Expressway to promote socioeconomic development.

According to Khanh Hoa People’s Committee, upgrading the expressway also helps connect the East-West economic corridor with the industrial development area and South Van Phong Port. Khanh Hoa province connects with the Central Highlands region through national highways No.26 and No.26B, and will also do so through Nha Trang-Buon Ma Thuot Expressway, which is under construction.

National Highway No.26B connects the Central Highlands with the coast while also transporting exported agricultural products from to countries around the world through deep-sea ports at Van Phong Economic Zone. South Van Phong Port, adjacent to Ninh Thuy Industrial Park, is about 120km from Buon Ma Thuot in Dak Lak province.

The province expects that once the expressway and other highways are completed, the economic corridor linking the Central Highlands and south-central coastal regions will take advantage of their potential and untapped strengths to become one of the economic centres of the region and beyond.

Khanh Hoa and other provinces are preparing dossiers for construction of an inter-regional road project connecting Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, and Lam Dong. The prime minister has asked the State Appraisal Council, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and Khanh Hoa People’s Committee of to supplement documents on the policy of changing the forest use purpose to another purpose for the project’s construction.
