According to the EU-ESRT on November 25, the map, developed by EU-ESRT experts, is seen as a useful reference for the tourism authorities of three regional provinces – Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Nam and Da Nang – to research and design plans for local tourism development.
The technical report is intended to enhance the destination management and marketing efforts for the three provinces’ tourism products at regional level.
It analyses the current situation of the regional tourism sector, identify and assess priority tourism products for their connection within the region.
Three main strategies were also identified for priority tourism product linkages as follows – connecting key cultural heritage products by strengthening the Heritage Road touring route, connecting key coastal products into an intra-provincial coastal beach tourism hub, connecting key nature and community-based tourism products by developing a Nature Trail touring route circuit.
In addition, the EU-ESRT experts made recommendations to strengthen the regional tourism products.
“The beaches, coastal and inland waters in the Central Coast tourism hub are critical components of the tourism experience and the key attraction for most visitors. The careful management of these products is therefore critical for the hub to operate successfully as a desirable tourism destination. The coastal areas and inland waterways that have been prioritised are the beaches of Lang Co, My Khe & Pham Van Dong, Cua Dai & An Bang, Cham Island, and the Han River in Da Nang”, the report said.
The EU-ESRT programme will continue designing technical reports for regional tourism product development at priority areas including eight Northwest provinces and three Mekong Delta localities.
