One highlight of Dong Thap’s tourism event will be Sa Dec Flower Festival |
In light of the Mekong Delta province’s tourism development plan, Dong Thap People’s Committee is staging the Culture and Tourism Week 2021 – a festive event promising to be an exquisite and friendly creation to allure visitors in time for the Lunar New Year.
Dong Thap Culture and Tourism Week 2021 will run until January 27 in Sa Dec, which is deemed as the city of flowers in the Mekong Delta.
Aimed to attract at least 300 guests, this annual event is set to honour distinct local, cultural, and historical values, enriched natural resources, and traditional craft villages that are closely attached to tourism development. The event will also provide a platform enabling local relic sites, tourist attractions, travel agents, and craft villages to elevate exposure of their brands, products, and services to visitors.
The event is focused on promoting the city of Sa Dec as a land of vibrant harbour trade and the best dishes, as well as a place of romance and roses. Its agenda will cover a variety of activities including a conference reviewing cooperation in tourism development between Ho Chi Minh City and 13 cities and provinces in the region last year; a photo exhibition reflecting on Sa Dec development at different stages; a conference to present new tourism offerings; a flower-boat competition, and much more.
Other highlights of the event are set to be the ceremony to pay tribute to and esteem flower and ornamental tree growing as an occupation; and Sa Dec Flower Festival, which will be accompanied by a wide range of intriguing street art performances.
According to Doan Tan Buu, Deputy Chairman of Dong Thap People’s Committee cum head of the Organising Committee, the event has been meticulously prepared to present a distinct cultural tradition and the area’s tourism to visitors. It also hopes to foster investment-trade promotion and cooperation alliances to push up Dong Thap’s tourism development.
Nguyen Ngoc Thuong, director of Dong Thap Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, noted that the prime objectives of the week-long event are to highlight the province’s distinction in land and people, leaving good impressions on visitors while simultaneously ensuring obedience to strict regulations on COVID-19 prevention under health sector guidance.
In parallel to Dong Thap Culture and Tourism Week 2021 in Sa Dec are a raft of activities with the engagement of diverse local areas and major tourism attractions in Cao Lanh and Hong Ngu cities, as well as different districts like Chau Thanh, Lai Vung, and Tam Nong, in order to elevate the visitor experience and bring a facelift to the province.
For tourism sites like Tram Chim, Xeo Quit, Gao Giong, and relic sites like that dedicated to Nguyen Sinh Sac – the father of President Ho Chi Minh – efforts have been made to ensure safety and quality for visitors, along with adding new products and services to attract more people.
