On September 21, Korea-Tra Vinh Wind Farm has completed energizing to begin commercial operation in the beginning of October 2021. The VND2.4 trillion ($104.35 million) project is implemented by Tra Vinh Wind Power No.1 JSC, Royal HaskoningDHV as the owner engineer and with the general contractors of Vestas, Khang Duc Investment & Construction JSC, and Power Construction JSC No.1 (PCC1).

Korea-Tra Vinh Wind Farm V1.1 was inaugurated in May 2020, covering 1,200 hectares of sea surface and land area. It has 12 turbines with a capacity of 48MW, stretching across 4.2km access bridge and producing 155 million kW of electricity annually.

Nguyen Van Tan, General Director of Khang Duc, the contractor for the delivery of the civil balance of plant (CBOP), said that investors are racing to complete the testing process to attain the commercial operation date (COD) before October 31 and enjoy the preferential feed-in-tariff. However, many wind farm projects have been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Korea-Tra Vinh Wind Power Farm successfully winning the race amidst the pandemic has confirmed Khang Duc's construction capacity, position and reputation in the nearshore wind farm industry in particular and offshore projects in general in Vietnam. The company has not only completed the project on schedule but also met 100 per cent of the high-quality requirements.
