Horasis 2018 opens investment and trade opportunities to all members

The Vietnamese government is consistently developing microeconomic stability, increasing investment efficiency, sustainably reducing poverty, and encouraging people and enterprises to innovate, said Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung at his opening speech at 2018 Horasis Asia Meeting held on November 26 in the southern province.

Dr Frank-Jürgen Richter, chairman and founder of Horasis believes in the prosperity co-operation between Vietnam and Horasis, and this organisation has been promoting Vietnam among foreign investors.

“Vietnam is one of the outstanding success stories of business development and innovation, especially technology renewal which is a significant factor in the development of the country. This meeting is also an effort to integrate into the global economy and tighten economic co-operation between Vietnam and other Asian countries,” Richter said.

“With its young and skilled labour force Vietnam has become a favoured destination for multi-national corporations to supply goods and services globally,” Dung said.

Tran Thanh Liem, Chairman of the Binh Duong People’s Committee, said that Horasis Asia 2018 has brought an invaluable opportunity to share experiences and points of view to participants.

“Especially through this Meeting, Binh Duong province will find important solutions to re-arrange its development sources more efficiently for better, more sustainable economic development in the coming time,” Liem said.

Vietnam has posted many achievements during the past years. The country’s Global Competitiveness Index in 2018 was 77th out of 140 countries, according to the World Economic Forum. The country is also 69th out of 190 countries under the Doing Business 2019 report of the World Bank, and was 45th out of 127 entries in the Global Innovation Index of the World Copyright Organisation.

Vietnam is now home to more than 26,000 foreign-invested enterprises coming from 130 nations and territories, with the total committed investment capital of more than $330 billion.

With the purpose to widely integrate into the global economy, Vietnam has become a highly appreciated trading partner and have trade relationships with more than 200 nations and territories.

The country now is a member of the World Trade Organization and has entered 12 free trade agreements. In this November, Vietnam has officially approved the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTTP) and is actively revewing the legal documentation to approve the free trade agreement with the European Union very soon.

These FTAs have opened the doors wider for Vietnamese exports and investment from more than 50 nations, giving the opportunity for Vietnam to integrate deeper into the global value chain and manufacturing network.

The 2018 Horasis Asia Meeting was attended by more than 400 senior executives and CEOs from over 60 countries and 400 leaders from leading companies in Vietnam, as well as leaders of central and local authorities.

Binh Duong continues to be a hotbed of international integration and the Fourth Industrial Revolution, hosting Horasis shortly after successfully hosting the 11th conference of the WTA and Binh Duong being honoured as one of the The World's 21 Smartest Cities in 2019 (Smart21) by the Intelligent Community Forum (ICF).

At Horasis domestic enterprises exchanged and connected with a network of senior partners, founders, and CEOs from leading companies in Asia, the region, and the world. This provided precious opportunities to seek for development partners, trade promotion and investment cooperation between Vietnam, Asia, and the world.

The 2018 Horasis Asia Meeting held in Binh Duong was an opportunity to promote Binh Duong and Vietnam among international partners as well as to improve management capacity and science and technology levels in Vietnam to speed up the implementation of smart city initiatives.

The forum was hosted by the Binh Duong People's Committee in collaboration with Horasis Global Vision Community, Becamex IDC Corporation, VSIP Group, the All India Management Association (AIMA), and Young Premier Leadership Organisation (YPO).
