Ho Chi Minh City has carried out vaccination for more than 17,775 foreigners from 106 countries and territories.
District 7 has implemented a pilot programme to vaccinate about 18,000 foreigners living and working in the district. Foreigers received AstraZeneca or Moderna vaccines depending on their health conditions. This is part of Vietnam's efforts to accelerate the fair and equitable vaccination drive for its population and expats in the country.
According to data provided by foreign embassies and consulates, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Foreign Affairs has counted more than 210,000 expats living and working in Ho Chi Minh City wishing to be vaccinated.
Since the outbreak of the pandemic, many countries have actively donated medical equipment and vaccines to Vietnam, most of which are distributed to Ho Chi Minh City. Meanwhile, Vietnamese citizens have also received vaccination as citizens of the host countries overseas. On that basis, the Department of Foreign Affairs proposed the City Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control to agree to deploy vaccination for foreigners studying and working in the city within the city's resources.
