With this budget, Hanoi assigned the Department of Health to direct the City Centre for Disease Control (CDC) to purchase sampling, chemicals, biological products, and consumable materials for testing.

In addition, the Department of Health was also assigned to select units recognised by the Ministry of Health to be eligible for the COVID-19 screening. The department will also have to prepare and approve detailed cost estimates for the testing of samples collected from people waiting in concentrated isolation before transferring them to local isolation in accordance with regulations.

According to data from Ministry of Health, by 11.30am on March 12, 2020, Hanoi recorded five patients infected by COVID-19 who are being treated at the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases. 2,300 samples collected from people returning from epidemic areas and are in concentrated isolation areas in Hanoi, have been tested.
