VTDF believes the deal will boost Vietnam's tourism by attracting more domestic and international travellers, while also advancing the digital transformation and sustainable development of the tourism industry.

Under the agreement, Grab will become a preferred transportation and e-commerce partner, enhancing tourists' experiences in Vietnam with a seamless range of services from transportation, delivery, food ordering, goods, and cashless payments.

With the advantage of being the number one ride-hailing app by usage and an extensive service network nationwide, Grab can connect tourists to public transportation systems such as airports, train stations, and bus stations, providing a seamless and safe travel experience to renowned tourist destinations. Besides transportation services, tourists can also use the Grab app to enjoy local cuisine or shop for local hand crafts, creating a complete and memorable travel experience of Vietnam.

Within the five-year cooperation framework, the two sides will leverage digital marketing to encourage travellers to visit Vietnam by highlighting its rich cultural heritage, traditions, and culinary offerings.

Both sides will collaborate with travel agencies to create integrated international tour packages within the Grab app, enhancing the visitor experience. They will encourage regional tourism clusters, supporting travel between neighbouring provinces and cities via the Grab app through domestic and international media channels, alongside improving public amenities for both tourists and residents.

Grab will also actively participate in major cultural and social events to further enrich the tourist experience and develop local tourism potential.

The collaboration will see the promotion of local cuisine and speciality dishes by supporting micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises in adopting digital platforms and tools to improve business efficiency, engage in e-commerce, and facilitate cashless transactions.

Furthermore, Grab will showcase unique culinary offerings both within and outside the app, providing tourists with reliable information and memorable eating experiences. This includes championing local cuisine on GrabCar and sponsoring QR code-enabled benches at tourist hotspots. GrabFood will enable users to easily discover and order from renowned local eateries with special offers.

In addition to these key focuses, VTDF and Grab Vietnam will also devote more resources to enhancing the digitalisation of local tourism destinations through new utilities on Grab app.

Hoang Thi Kim Anh, chairwoman and director of VTDF, said, "Our operational goal is to effectively and sustainably support Vietnam's tourism development. VTDF believes this collaboration with Grab will maximise our role and strengths, aiming to establish tourism as a key economic sector for the country."

Adding to that sentiment, Alejandro Osorio, managing director of Grab Vietnam, said, "Tourism contributes significantly to Vietnam's GDP and is oriented to become a key economic sector of the country by 2030. Grab is honoured to become a preferred partner with VTDF to provide high-quality digital services for tourists. We believe together we can create significant momentum to foster the rapid and sustainable development of tourism in this country."

Grab Vietnam has intensified its cooperation with authorities at all levels to advance digital transformation across various sectors. The ride-hailing giant has previously signed an MoU with Hue to support the city's digital transformation goals through various initiatives, along with partnerships with Hanoi Metro One Member Co., Ltd. and Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway No.1 Co., Ltd. on the management and development of transportation and smart transportation solutions.
