FPT IS and Metrodata partner to secure leadership in AI, cloud, and cybersecurity in Indonesia

Both parties aim to develop cybersecurity, AI, and cloud solutions to position Indonesia as a leading nation in digital transformation and AI in Southeast Asia.

Indonesia is currently one of the fastest-growing digital economies in Southeast Asia and is expected to become the largest in the region by 2030. According to the e-Conomy SEA 2023 report, Indonesia’s digital economy is projected to reach $360 billion by 2030, up from $110 billion in 2025, creating fertile ground for the growth of AI and cybersecurity.

Metrodata is a leading IT company in Indonesia, offering a wide range of digital solutions, including IT distribution, managed services, and system integration. The joint venture, named PT FPT Metrodata Indonesia (FMI), aims to seize new opportunities and invest in research and development (R&D) as well as the most advanced technology services. In its initial phase, PT FPT Metrodata Indonesia (FMI) will focus on cybersecurity solutions, a key technological domain for Indonesia’s digital economy. Following this, FMI will expand into cloud computing and AI services, develop software-as-a-service solutions, and create customised software tailored to the Indonesian market’s demands. The joint venture aims to reach a revenue target of $100 million within the next five years.

Initially, FMI will focus on developing key cybersecurity services, such as security operations centres, security management services, professional security services, security consulting and advisory, and security incident monitoring and detection services.

FMI will build a next-generation SOC Command Centre, allowing the company to enhance its monitoring services for various customer segments through SIEM (Security Information and Event Management). This comprehensive solution helps organisations address cybersecurity threats before they occur and impact business operations, suitable for mid-sized enterprises. This ensures compliance with Indonesia's personal data protection law and addresses the growing demand for cybersecurity monitoring services. FMI plans to develop and launch a new product designed specifically for Indonesia’s mid-market within 12 months. By leveraging the strong security capabilities of FPT IS, especially the FPT.EagleEye technology solution, FMI aims to optimise costs in managed service operations.

With Metrodata’s deep understanding of the Indonesian market and FPT IS’s capabilities in deploying global technology solutions, FMI is expected to have significant potential to develop a world-class technology ecosystem that meets stringent market requirements and positions itself as a leader in Indonesia and the region.
