Dat Bike, FPT IS launch public cloud for EV manufacturing industry

The project aims to elevate Dat Bike's management capabilities and accelerate its development towards the goal of "greening" transportation and becoming one of the leading electric motorcycle manufacturers in Southeast Asia.

The SAP S/4HANA public cloud project is an enterprise resources planning (ERP) SaaS (software-as-a-service) solution that allows customers to operate the system on SAP's shared cloud platform, saving up to 50 per cent in costs and 99.7 per cent in operational time. The solution is also recognised in top rankings by Gartner, Forrester, and IDC and has become one of the leading operational management technology choices across various industries.

Choosing SAP S/4HANA in the public cloud model is relatively new for businesses in Vietnam. This solution was introduced to the Vietnamese market by SAP- the world’s leading provider of business software, and FPT IS in 2023, expected to set a new trend for flexible ERP investment for Vietnamese enterprises.

This project is considered a pioneering endeavour in enterprise management using the SAP S/4HANA public cloud solution within the electric motorcycle manufacturing and business sector, implemented by FPT IS in Vietnam.

At the signing ceremony, Pham Duc Nam Trung, CFO of Dat Bike said, "Dat Bike is on a growth acceleration journey with goals for production development and market expansion. The launch of the SAP S/4HANA public cloud project between Dat Bike and FPT IS marks a significant milestone, promising sustainable value for both parties and the community. The project is expected to be a catalyst for Dat Bike’s strong future development and open up new cooperation opportunities in technology and enterprise management with FPT IS.

Founded in 2019, Dat Bike specialises in manufacturing electric motorcycles with the goal of transforming the motorcycle market from petrol to electric. Dat Bike aspires to become a leading Vietnamese electric motorcycle manufacturer in the Southeast Asian market, valued at $8 billion in Vietnam and $25 billion in the region.

Following the launch of the Quantum scooter line at the end of 2023, Dat Bike recorded a 10-fold increase in monthly sales compared to before. Additionally, the electric two-wheeler industry in Vietnam has consistently grown by over 30 per cent annually. With such rapid growth, Dat Bike requires a robust enterprise management technology platform to meet business demands and expand its market.

With a strategic vision for business and technology, and consulting from FPT IS, Dat Bike's leadership decided to invest in and choose the SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud solution. This decision enables Dat Bike to apply a globally standardised management platform, optimally deployed through cloud technology.

The project was agreed upon and executed within just three months. Given the company's comprehensive operations from production to sales distribution but with a small workforce, the digital transformation journey alongside rapid growth makes the implementation of SAP S/4HANA public cloud a significant milestone. It allows Dat Bike to maintain lean staffing while ensuring efficient operations and effective management.

Specifically, FPT IS will implement the solution for Dat Bike across multiple systems from production to distribution and sales on an enterprise-wide scale, both within Vietnam and Southeast Asia. The solution will encompass modules including sales, sourcing and procurement, supply chain, manufacturing, finance, integration to e-invoices, and quality management.

The application of SAP S/4HANA public cloud will enable Dat Bike to update real-time reports and produce financial statements that comply with both Vietnamese and international accounting standards, attracting both domestic and international partners. This is a crucial foundation for the company's rapid, synchronised, and sustainable development.
