The fire broke out at the 25th floor of MB Grand Tower |
The fire broke out at 8 PM yesterday (May 9) at the 25th floor of MB Grand Tower on Le Van Luong Street. The firefighting department sent eight fire engines and dozens of firefighters to the scene.
“The fire started at a technical room and did not have any casualties,” a firefighter said.
The firefighters responded swiftly and put out the fire before it could escalate |
MB Grand Tower, which broke ground in 2015, was designed as a commercial, hotel, office, and apartment complex. The building has not yet been put into operation, thus it was empty at the time the fire broke out.
The building was invested by MBLand Holdings JSC, with design consultancy by the Nihon Sekkei-Coninco joint venture, and developed by DELTA Corp. as the main contractor.
The Golden Field building of MBLand Holdings JSC |
Two weeks ago, the Hanoi Fire Department has proposed evacuating MBLand Holdings JSC’s Golden Field high-end apartment building in My Dinh urban area due to violations of the fire code. MBLand paid a fine of VND40 million ($1,760) for putting the building into use without having its fire prevention system checked.
Golden Field only had its fire prevention system design approved, but has not been certified for fire safety. This 30-floor building also has many fire prevention violations, including the uncompleted fire prevention system on the 1-7th floors (trade and service area), no fire escapes on the 24-27th floors, in contrast with the approved fire prevention system design.
