At 2 AM today, on April 4, the fire spread along a thousand square metres at Texhong Yinlong Technology Limited’s factory No.4, in Hai Yen Industrial Park, in Mong Cai city of Quang Ninh province.
Vu Van Kinh, chairman of the city’s People’s Committee informed that the fire has been extinguished before today evening. During the fire, leaders of the city and industrial park’s management unit, relevant departments and agencies arrived to the scene to direct firefighting activities and determine the reasons behind the inferno.
The Quang Ninh province Firefighting Department sent four fire engines and 45 firefighters, while Cam Pha and Halong city’s departments also sent over ten fire engines and 90 fighters.
60 Chinese firefighters from Guangxi province were also sent to the scene |
Mong Cai city also asked Dongxing city of China’s Guangxi province for support. Nine fire engine, two water sprayers, two excavators, and 60 Chinese firefighters were sent to Hai Yen IP to combat the fire.
Nguyen Manh Tuan, director of Quang Ninh’s economic zone management unit, said that Texhong Yinlong Technology Limited has complied with fire safety regulations. The company has a professional firefighter team including 23 people. Hai Yen IP, which was built by Viglacera Corporation-JSC also has two water tanks with the capacity of 1,500cu.m to support firefighting.
“However, because the fire broke out from a warehouse filled of cotton and fabric material, which are very easy to catch fire, the fire escalated too fast to be checked by Mong Cai city’s Firefighting Department,” noted Kinh.
The fire was extinguished by the end of this afternoon |
The huge fire lasted for more than 15 hours and destroyed 5,000 tonnes of cotton and fabric materials inside Texhon Yinlong's factory. There are no reports of fatalities, but the property damage seems extensive, although it has not been assessed yet.
Texhong Yinlong Technology Limited was established in May 2012 with the total investment of $300 million on an area of 53-hectare and employing 5,000 workers. It is a subsidiary of Hong Kong’s Texhong Textile Group.
In November 2014 Texhong Textile Group started to build Hai Ha Industrial Park’s first phase. The facility has already been put into operation. This is the largest foreign invested project in Quang Ninh with the total registered capital of $450 million and taking up an area of 660ha.
