Hanoi-based Citi volunteers planted trees at Hung Cuong Primary and Secondary School in Hung Yen province. Ho Chi Minh City-based Citi staff helped build a new playground for Gia Huynh Primary School in Binh Thuan province.

Every year since 2006, Citi employees globally have joined Community Day events in June. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Global Community Day (GCD).

“As we celebrate the 20th anniversary of GCD this year, I’d like to take a moment to recognise the Citi volunteers across Vietnam who have dedicated their time, talent, and efforts to give back. Our tree planting campaigns have brought Citi volunteers and communities together to form a social movement for environmental protection, supporting the government’s 1-billion-tree initiative,” said Pham Huu Hai, Citi Hanoi branch director, at the event in Hung Yen province.

Since Citi’s first GCD, the bank has completed over 1.2 million volunteer engagements across more than 80 countries and territories. That’s resulted in millions of meals provided to families in need, and thousands of trees planted. These are only a few examples of the impact Citi has made across the globe.

“A beautiful playground allows the children to have space for sharing moments together. Our volunteerism not only helps the environment, it shows our commitment to empowering future generations,” said Lai Minh Thuy, Citi Ho Chi Minh City branch director, at the event in Binh Thuan province.

Citi will continue the community activities in June with two blood donation campaigns in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City on June 20. The programmes aim to create wider awareness of the vital role of blood transfusion in saving lives and assisting the recovery of patients.
