Reaffirming Cisco’s commitment to the people of Vietnam, Luong Thi Le Thuy, managing director of Cisco Vietnam said: "It is a great honour for us to have this opportunity to accompany Vietnam to organise ITU Digital World 2020 – the most important event of the year in the world's telecom industry. This event is of great significance for Cisco and Cisco Vietnam in particular. We are truly proud that our Webex solution is trusted and chosen for such a global-level online conference. Through this event, we, together with Vietnam, want to affirm our central role in the ICT industry in ASEAN while promoting the country's position and reputation.”
Nguyen Danh Thuan, general director of Ademax said, “As a strategic partner of Cisco in Vietnam, Ademax is very proud to be selected for the role of implementing Webex solutions for this significant event. The success of the event was a great motivation for us in our mission to bring breakthrough solutions in online collaboration and remote meeting to organisations and business communities in Vietnam. We also would like to thank Cisco and the Ministry of Information and Communications for giving us the opportunity to contribute to this event."
At ITU Digital World 2020, Cisco will also participate in a panel discussion on 5G with Sanjay Kaul, president, Service Provider Business, Cisco Asia-Pacific and Japan discussing with other speakers 5G's key value proposition, impact on the potential development of the digital economy and transforming industries, businesses, societies, as well as opportunities and challenges when deploying 5G infrastructures. The panel discussion will also be organised online through Webex.
Speaking at the event, Sanjay Kaul said "Enterprises will be major beneficiaries of 5G, as they devise new, innovative ways to take advantage of the greater speeds and far lower latency on offer. Smart manufacturing, agriculture, financial services, health, education, and logistics are just some of the sectors which will undergo a massive transformation because of this technology. Operators around the world must invest in 5G to meet this future demand, and working with the right ecosystem partners is key to their success."
According to a 2019 Cisco study “5G in ASEAN: Reigniting growth in enterprise and consumer markets”,the rollout of 5G services could boost the annual revenues of Vietnamese telecom operators by as much as $300 million starting from 2025. The study also expects 5G penetration to be around 25-40 per cent in major countries in the region. The total number of 5G subscriptions in ASEAN is forecast to exceed 200 million in 2025.
Talking about the importance of 5G, Thuy believed Cisco will continue to contribute to the development of 5G infrastructures in Vietnam, just like the way they did to the development of 3G and 4G networks. 5G is expected to create a major turning point for the growth of manufacturing and ICT industry in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
