Through impactful initiatives that promote disease awareness, prevention, and early detection, AstraZeneca Vietnam continues to make a lasting difference in the lives of millions.
Among these initiatives, the Young Health Programme, launched in 2019, aims to educate and prevent non-communicable diseases (NCDs) among people aged 10-24 in vulnerable and under-resourced communities.
After two phases of implementation, the offering has reached over 100,000 young people across 29 secondary schools and universities, achieving significant results. 81 per cent of participants have demonstrated increased awareness of risk factors, 79 per cent have improved their understanding of three key NCDs, and 63 per cent have adopted healthier nutritional behaviour.
Moreover, since 2020, AstraZeneca Vietnam and the Health Strategy and Policy Institute under the MoH have jointly implemented the “Partnership for Health System Sustainability and Resilience” initiative. This initiative is designed to strengthen the financial sustainability of Vietnam’s healthcare system by building capacity through Health Technology Assessment training, conducting research, and organising workshops on healthcare financing and risk-sharing solutions.
Additionally, the programme supports technology transfer for domestic drug and vaccine manufacturing through contract manufacturing organisations, helping to advance local capabilities and long-term resilience in the healthcare sector.
AstraZeneca Vietnam underscores its dedication to sustainable development with impactful carbon reduction initiatives, exemplified by its new Hanoi office built to meet LEED Gold standards. The office incorporates advanced energy-saving technologies and optimised workspace design to reduce its environmental footprint.
These efforts are part of AstraZeneca Vietnam’s broader carbon-neutral strategy, reflecting the company’s commitment to social responsibility, demonstrated not only in its healthcare work, but also in its ongoing contributions to environmental protection in Vietnam.
AstraZeneca Vietnam collaborates closely with the MoH and industry partners to encourage proactive prevention and early diagnosis for more than one million patients nationwide. These initiatives aim to improve treatment outcomes for high-burden, high-mortality NCDs, optimise healthcare resources, and reduce the environmental footprint of medical services.
Noteworthy programmes include the “CAREME – Love Yourself” campaign, a digital transformation initiative supporting early detection and diagnosis of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and chronic kidney disease. Additional flagship efforts are “Healthy Lungs”, which enhances outpatient management of asthma and COPD; “Love Your Lungs”, which supports lung cancer screening and early diagnosis; and a collaboration on an AI-powered digital screening drive.
“Recognising that business growth and sustainability are deeply tied to tackling major health challenges, we are committed to supporting the wellbeing of people, society, and the planet by advancing scientific innovation to deliver life-changing medicines,” stated Atul Tandon, general director of AstraZeneca Vietnam.
“Our priorities include bold climate actions to protect planetary health, bridging healthcare gaps to advance equitable access, and reinforcing the resilience of healthcare systems to address both today and tomorrow’s health needs,” he added.
