Recipients of the Chinese-made COVID-19 vaccine Vero Cell will include Chinese people working in Vietnam, Vietnamese people looking to study and work in China, and people living along in the areas along the Vietnamese-Chinese border.

The World Health Organization (WHO) in May listed the Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use with 78.2 per cent efficacy, greenlighting this vaccine to be rolled out globally.

On June 3, Vietnam officially licensed the Vero Cell vaccine for emergency use. In addition to Sinopharm, Vietnam licensed three other COVID-19 vaccines namely AstraZeneca, Sputnik V, and Pfizer.

As of the morning of June 20, Vietnam had a total of about 13,000 COVID-19 infections and 64 death cases. As of June 19, about 2.5 million people got the shot.
