Nearly one million doses of COVID-19 vaccine arrived in Vietnam |
Nguyen Thanh Long, Minister of Health, and Nguyen Minh Vu, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs were at the airport to receive the vaccines on behalf of the Vietnamese government. Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Yamada Takio was also present at the delivery.
Long said, “We are happy to receive the COVID-19 vaccine donated by the Japanese government. This precious donation reflects good relations between the two governments and people, especially in the context of serious development of the pandemic and shortfall in the supply of vaccine globally.”

"Vietnam pledges to use the vaccines in the most possible efficient and fastest manner. In the morning of June 17, the vaccine will be sent to Ho Chi Minh City to inoculate the population," he noted.
According to the Minister of Health, Vietnam is the first nation in Southeast Asia to receive COVID-19 vaccine donations from the Japanese government.
Yamada Takio emphasised that this is evidence for the deep friendship between the two nations. Japan hopes to unite with the international community, especially with Vietnam, to overcome the pandemic.
