In early March, the event themed "VIP Connect: Going Global - Building a Cross-Border Game App Powerhouse" was held by Payoneer in Hanoi.
Viet Vu, country manager at Payoneer Vietnam, highlighted that the global gaming market is projected to reach a staggering $212.4 billion in revenue by 2026, with mobile gaming accounting for a significant 42 per cent.
Powerhouse markets such as China, the United States, and Japan currently lead the way. He noted that Vietnam ranks among the top 5 countries in the world for game publishing, with games reaching 4.2 billion downloads globally, 2.5 times higher than the global growth rate average.
Vu emphasised Payoneer's commitment to supporting gaming developers and publishers with reliable, secure, and efficient cross-border payment solutions.
“We see great potential for Vietnamese gaming businesses as they build international partnerships. Our international payments solution helps simplify cross-border trade, enabling small businesses to transact globally seamlessly,” Vu said.
Many major game companies, such as VNG, Falcon Game Studio, or Amanote, have made their mark in international markets. In 2024, VNG has successfully applied self-developed AI tools throughout the game development and publishing process. AI solutions are deployed in game design, graphic design, and AI bot building. For publishing activities, AI has improved the efficiency of localising marketing campaigns and multilingual translation to serve global publishing.
Falcon Game Studio is the first company in Vietnam to produce games with revenue of $1 million InApp, and many games with 100 million downloads on Google Play and Apple Store. By 2027, Falcon aims to achieve a milestone of $5 million InApp for its gaming products and revenue of $500 million per year.
Meanwhile, Amanotes is a Vietnamese music game developer with over 100 million active monthly users and 3.5 billion downloads. Bringing music games to online mobile platforms with the support of technology helps Amanotes reach billions of users worldwide.
Indeed, Vietnam's gaming industry is booming, with revenues from games and applications projected to reach $2.7 billion by 2026. At the event, the session titled “Effective Multi-Entity Business Structuring” led by an industry expert provided entrepreneurs and developers of the gaming industry with insights on managing business compliance in global markets for global expansion opportunities.
Participants explored optimising their financial operations through sub-accounts for enhanced budgeting and project management. The session highlighted best practices for account maintenance and statement reviews to support international business operations.
During the interactive Q&A session, participants explored common challenges faced by gaming developers working to expand beyond their local markets. The event provided a platform for knowledge sharing and professional networking among participants from the gaming sector, concluding with a session designed to foster connections and potential partnerships.
