The initiative involves continuing operations at the existing STT VNG Ho Chi Minh City 1, originally known as VNG Data Centre, and launching a new facility, STT VNG Ho Chi Minh City 2, set to open in early 2026.

Lionel Yeo, CEO of Southeast Asia at STT GDC said, "Our collaboration with VNG is a strategic fit, combining their deep market understanding and our global operational expertise to deliver world-class data centre solutions in Vietnam. This partnership is poised to support the rapid digital transformation needs of the region."

STT VNG 1 is a carrier-neutral hub for infrastructure, boasting a total power capacity of 9.6MW and various international standards certifications. It serves a broad spectrum of clients, including financial institutions, internet service providers, and cloud services.

Le Hong Minh, CEO of VNG, underscored the significance of the partnership. "Teaming up with STT GDC not only elevates the data centre standards in Vietnam but also catapults VNG's services onto the global stage. Together, we are committed to advancing AI cloud technologies, aligning with the critical trends of the digital economy."

The partnership is set to enhance Vietnam's burgeoning status as a digital hub in Southeast Asia, driven by robust government support and a rapidly growing e-commerce sector.

Vietnam's digital economy is expected to expand by 20 per cent in 2025, significantly outpacing GDP growth, thanks to a vibrant digital ecosystem and increasing consumer demand for connectivity.
