Hosted by the Vietnam Association of Young Entrepreneurs, the Gold Star Awards is one of the most prestigious prizes honouring Vietnamese enterprises. It has helped enhance the images and brands of Vietnamese products.
“I hope that Vietnam will be home to more award winners and more global trademarks,” said Deputy Prime Minister Truong Vinh Trong at the awarding ceremony held in Ho Chi Minh City.
“The success of the awards reflects Vietnamese trademarks’ success and unceasing development. We have participated in the awards since it was initiated in 2003 in order to enhance Vietnamese electrical equipment trademarks,” said Hanaka’s chairman Man Ngoc Anh.
“This is the eighth time Viet Tien Garment Joint stock Company has won such a lofty award. We have boost our exports thanks to our stronger trademark since last year,” said the company’s general director Bui Van Tien.
The awards selection council included 67 members who are competent and experienced in related sectors. They come from commodity-related associations, leadership from the Ministry of Finance’s General Department of Taxation, the State Securities Commission and State Auditing Agency.
Especially, KPMG was invited to appraise, under international standards, all activities of enterprises participating in the award this year.
Careful appraisal was made over enterprises’ many criteria such as transparency, revenues, return-on-equity ratio, growth rate, number of employees, contributions to state coffers and society, and capacity in management and risk control.
“Enterprises’ contributions to the locality’s socio-economic development where they are located are amongst the most important criterion, because the contributions will be the driving force for the locality’s development,” said Nguyen Manh Cuong, vice chairman and general secretary of Vietnam Association of Young Entrepreneurs.
“The award does not simply aim to post its logo on enterprises’ products, but also create a robust Gold Star Award community with products well known globally,” Cuong said.
Initiated in 2003, the award has been won by 1,327 different trademarks.
