Phu Yen General Hospital can now test for SARS-CoV-2, accelerating detection in the province |
Phu Yen General Hospital has just received four testing kits for the extraction of RNA samples from 200 patients which can be tested for SARS-CoV-2. This sets the grounds for detection, leading to efficient treatment and isolation.
Doctor Nguyen Thi Mong Ngoc, deputy head of the Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control cum general director of Phu Yen Department of Health, said: “The province's goal in preventing the epidemic is detecting infections as soon as possible in the locality to control, quarantine, and handle arising cases.”
Thanks to the test kits, detection will be faster and the health sector can do the next steps quickly and efficiently. The process of testing for the virus in Phu Yen is exercised in line with the standards of the Ministry of Health.
At first, the test results of Phu Yen General Hospital will be double-checked by Nha Trang Pasteur Institute. Then, only sample tests reporting positive will be sent for double-checking and reported to the Ministry of Health for public announcement.
To prepare for the test in Phu Yen, the provincial Department of Health sent a group of a doctors and technicians to Nha Trang Pasteur Institute for training. The provincial department also recommended the People’s Committee to procure more of the new equipment.
