Quang Ninh safely rebounding in tourism development

Quang Ninh is to welcome visitors joining long-term and closed tours on a trial basis in November, after opening up again for domestic tourists last month.

Pham Ngoc Thuy, director of Quang Ninh Tourism Department, told VIR that as safety is now the top factor, Quang Ninh would receive tourists through established ‘green lines’.

The province is now giving priority to promoting Quang Ninh-Haiphong tours, taking advantage of safe pandemic conditions in the two localities, particularly promoting Tuan Chau-Cat Ba and Lan Ha-Cat Ba-Halong ferry venues.

Next is pushing up cooperation with other localities with vibrant development and good containment of the pandemic like Bac Ninh, Vinh Phuc, and Thai Nguyen as well as major business groups.

Le Trong Thanh, deputy general director of Tung Lam Development JSC, said that to safely welcome external visitors, the company has teamed up with several travel agencies to set up a robust process on picking up and dropping off visitors, as well as developing specific tours.

The company has also arranged separate areas to welcome tourists from other localties to ensure safety standards.

Quang Ninh has set forth the target of hailing 1.5-2 million visitors by the end of the year, generating revenues approximating $174-195 million. From now until the year’s end, the province envisages holding 50 tourism promotion events.

Most prominent is a chain of events to greet visitors to Quang Ninh; the ceremony on national legacy announcement associated with the programme promoting tours to Yen Tu mountain; the Quang Ninh One-Commune, One-Product (OCOP) fair; and a winter carnival event, among others. All events are held under the message “Quang Ninh tourism – safe, friendly, and charming”.

In light of Quang Ninh’s socioeconomic development orientation during 2020-2025 and beyond, services is still the key sector, with tourism serving as the spearhead as attested by Secretary of Quang Ninh Party Committee Nguyen Xuan Ky.

“Taking advantage of this lull time, Quang Ninh needs to prepare new infrastructure, building up new assets and quality manpower for the tourism sector,” Ky said. “Projects like Vinhomes Green or Vinpearl Safari Halong from Vingroup would create new valuable assets for Quang Ninh to attract visitors.”

As of now, the majority of adults in the province have received two shots of COVID-19 vaccines. From late October, Quang Ninh began to work on a plan to vaccinate children against COVID-19 to become well-prepared for the move after getting official approval from the prime minister.

According to Thuy from Quang Ninh Tourism Department, the province would deploy a plan to welcome international tourists after reaching community immunity. Until then, Quang Ninh will pen out plans to welcome and serve international visitors following optimal safe standards.
