More than 200 extra flights for holiday period

On April 17 the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines, announced that it will schedule more than 200 extra domestic and international flights from Apr. 27 to May 2, to meet the increasing demand from the public to travel during South Vietnam’s Liberation Day (April 30) and May Day (May 1).

Vietnam Airlines will add 195 domestic flights to eight major routes, using Airbus A320/321 and ATR72 aircraft.

The largest number of the flights will be to the central coastal city of Da Nang , where the International Fireworks Festival is to take place. Hanoi - Da Nang city route will see 77 extra flights, Ho Chi Minh City - Da Nang city 56 extra flights and Da Nang - Hai Phong 4 flights.

Vietnam Airlines will also run extra flights between Hanoi and Nha Trang (16), Ho Chi Minh City and Nha Trang (15), Ho Chi Minh City and Phu Quoc (21) and Hanoi and Hue (2).

Flights operating on international routes between Ho Chi Minh City and Bangkok , Ho Chi Minh City and Hong Kong and Hanoi and Siem Reap will also be increased by 4-6 fights.

Vietnam Airlines estimates that the domestic demand during the forthcoming holiday period will rise by 10 per cent over the same period last year.
