The resort is designed to cater to guests seeking unique leisure experiences, local cultural immersion, and nature appreciation during their luxury getaways in Halong Bay.
Guests can enjoy exploring thousand-year-old caves and traditional fishing villages, offering a glimpse into the authentic life of seafaring communities.
Recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Halong Bay is named after a Vietnamese legend. The name "Halong" means "Descending Dragon", based on an ancient myth in which the Jade Emperor sent the Mother Dragon and her offspring down to earth to help the Vietnamese people fend off foreign invaders.
According to local folklore, the Mother Dragon and her children descended from the heavens to protect the people. As they soared through the skies, the dragons breathed fire to burn enemy ships and dropped jade and emeralds into the sea, forming towering limestone mountains that crushed the invaders’ fleets and blocked their advance. These dramatic limestone formations, once guardians against invasion, now create a breathtaking natural landscape scattered across the emerald waters of Halong Bay
Designed by world-renowned architectural firm WATG, InterContinental Halong Bay Resort reflects the spirit and vibrancy of this waterfront destination. It skilfully weaves in ancient folklore while honouring the breathtaking natural beauty of Halong’s unique combination of mainland, sea, islands, and islets.
The interior design, by acclaimed firm P49Deesign, draws inspiration from Vietnam’s traditional woven bamboo basket boats. These motifs are brought to life in the resort’s main lobby, while guest rooms showcase earthy and marine-inspired tones, with turquoise surfaces, golden accents, and playful patterns reminiscent of schools of fish, rippling waters, and shimmering pearls.
The resort features 174 well-appointed rooms and suites, 60 apartments, and 41 private villas.
Guests can also explore six distinctive restaurants and bars, each offering a rich culinary journey through regional and international flavours.
Located on the resort’s rooftop, Roku & Sky Bar is inspired by the Land of the Rising Sun. It serves reimagined Japanese cuisine prepared with the freshest local ingredients. From creative cocktail recipes to the curated Sake Library, this rooftop venue offers a bold gastronomic experience in a visually striking setting. The interior is highlighted by a dramatic dragon-shaped installation made entirely of bamboo stretching across the ceiling, evoking the legend of Halong with sweeping views of the spectacular bay.
Yulong Mansion, a two-storey restaurant, showcases refined modern Cantonese cuisine. It elevates the dining experience with elegant private rooms and an open kitchen concept where guests can enjoy live culinary performances. Signature dishes include tableside presentations such as the classic Beijing duck.
The resort also introduces a holistic wellness experience and a range of creative recreational activities. The spa, offered in partnership with UK luxury skincare brand Margaret Dabbs London and Australian clean beauty brand Sodashi, provides comprehensive wellness therapies, from facials to mind and body treatments, helping guests recharge both physically and mentally.
Recreational options abound, with beach sports including volleyball and archery, three outdoor swimming pools, the family-friendly Planet Trekkers kids’ club, and a cinema-themed games room ensuring multi-generational entertainment.
InterContinental Halong Bay Resort is designed to redefine travel experiences, meet evolving guest expectations, and enhance the overall journey.
Wellness initiatives include thoughtfully curated food and beverage options to reduce travel fatigue for guests moving across time zones. Guests will also have access to Timeshifter, a jet lag management app based on circadian science, helping international travellers quickly adapt to new time zones.
With five dedicated event venues, open-air spaces, and state-of-the-art technology, the resort is fully equipped to host corporate meetings and events, weddings, and other important celebrations.
The main ballroom, the largest event space, features an elegant design and can accommodate up to 1,050 guests in a theatre-style setup, 810 guests for standing receptions, or 680 guests for seated banquets.
In addition, the resort offers four multifunctional meeting rooms and outdoor event areas, including a meticulously landscaped garden that can host up to 330 guests and a rooftop terrace perfect for cocktail receptions with a capacity of up to 390 guests.
Starting from May 13, guests can be among the first to book a stay and enjoy an exclusive limited-time opening offer, which includes a special welcome gift upon check-in, complimentary daily buffet breakfast, full access to the resort’s recreational activities, and a curated barista-led coffee workshop at Marina Kitchen.
