Hanoi – The capital city of Hanoi wants to strengthen cooperation with Austria in public transport, healthcare, and the environment, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Le Hong Son said at a meeting with Austrian Ambassador to Vietnam Hans-Peter Glanzer on April 7.

Although bilateral relations have been continuously strengthened, the two countries have not yet fully exploited the potential of cooperation, he said, adding that there are nine investment projects of Austria in Hanoi with total registered capital of about 3.7 million USD.

For his part, the Ambassador said Austria seeks close cooperation with Vietnam in general and Hanoi in particular, in areas that are the country’s strengths such as urban transport solutions, medical equipment and treatment of wastewater and garbage.

The Austrian Embassy plans to hold cultural and economic exchanges this year on the occasion of the 50th founding anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations, he said.

Vice chairman Son affirmed that Hanoi is ready to coordinate with the embassy in organising these activities.
